General information

Educational approach

Our interactive programs are based on an educational approach that seeks to enable learning through experience. We support participants' self-determined learning and adapt our program to the group's process depending on the situation. As a result, we sometimes change the content and course of events spontaneously and each participant takes away or learns something different. This means that there is never a “standard program” for the various topics that is the same for every group. Our aim is not just to impart knowledge and/or ask questions. We want the participants to experience, appreciate and protect nature!

Target group

Our educational offer is aimed at different groups. Please refer to the age recommendation for the appropriate tour. All offers are adapted according to age and school type or previous specialist knowledge.

Group size

Programs are carried out for groups of at least 10 people. On site, we divide groups of 31 people or more. A maximum of two groups (60 people) can be supervised in the education center. Please understand that there may not be enough staff available to supervise a large group. Early registration helps us with the organization.

Duration

In the detailed descriptions of our programs you will find the minimum and maximum duration of the events. Depending on time availability and public transport connections, you can determine the duration of your event within this framework yourself.

Take part

For all educational offers, you will need clothing suitable for the weather and sturdy shoes with non-slip soles. Please also wear them for activities in the education center, as we move from there to the outdoor area. You are welcome to bring binoculars, magnifying glasses and your own identification books. If it is not possible/planned to stop for refreshments, please make sure you have enough to eat and drink yourself.

Bring your own equipment

For all educational activities, you will need clothing suitable for the weather and sturdy shoes with non-slip soles. Please also bring your own shoes for activities in the education center, as we move from there to the outdoor area. You are welcome to bring binoculars, magnifying glasses and your own identification books. If no refreshment stop is planned/possible, please make sure you have enough to eat and drink yourself.

Accessibility

In the “Haus der Berge”, great importance was attached to barrier-free accessibility. People with mobile with mobility impairments can reach the education center in the “Haus der Berge” via the access road on the Gmundberg. We are also happy to offer programs and excursions for people with disabilities in the National Park. Routes and programs are chosen according to the target group by arrangement.

Prevention of sexualized violence

Education conveys the importance of diversity and respect for every living being. We respect the personality and dignity of all participants regardless of their origin, skin color, gender, sexual identity, religion, language, social status, physical and mental abilities. Employees take an active stance against sexist, discriminatory and violent verbal and non-verbal behavior. They respect the privacy and individual boundaries of children, adolescents and young adults at all times.

Duty of supervision

Accompanying persons or teachers are obliged to pass on safety instructions to all participants or their legal guardians and to ensure that the established rules are observed. Please understand that the event must be canceled in the event of willful violations of the rules.

Costs

In accordance with the educational mission of the National Park, all events are free of charge with the exception of costs incurred through the use of external services (e.g. Königssee boat trip or Jennerbahn cable car). These costs are listed with the respective events.

Local public transport

The starting points of our programs and the “Haus der Berge” are easily accessible by public transport. We are happy to adapt to the respective arrival and departure times. The guided tours usually end at the respective meeting point.

Seasonal restrictions

We generally offer our programs throughout the entire season. However, some themes can only be booked during certain periods. This period may change slightly due to the current weather conditions (e.g. snow conditions). One restriction is pointed out in the description of the programs.

Registration

Digital registration is required for each individual event. The form can be found under the respective event description. A separate form must be completed for each event and group. Once we have received your registration, you will receive confirmation of the date or a message if the date is no longer available. Please register as early as possible. If you have to cancel a tour, we are unfortunately not usually able to offer alternative dates.
