Info point Hintersee

At the entrance to the Klausbach Valley in the national park community of Ramsau lies the "Klausbachhaus", as this information center is also called. The listed farmhouse houses the interactive permanent exhibition "1,000 years of ups and downs" on the topic of alpine pastures and alpine farming in the national park on two floors.

National Park Information Point Hintersee

The "Klausbachhaus" is the starting point for many hiking tours in the national park, also a barrier-free circular trail starts here. The Klausbachhaus itself is not barrier-free, there is a handicapped accessible toilet in the outdoor area.

Opening hours

Daily from 9 am - 5 pm, admission is free.

The new exhibition

"1,000 years up and down" - this title shows the long tradition of alpine farming and its importance for the protected area. "Up and down" stands for the seasonal migrations of the alpine people and their animals from the valley up to the alpine pastures and back. Alpine pastures have an important meaning for the national park, they are a habitat with an extraordinarily high biodiversity.

On the first floor, the exhibition presents the alpine pastures of the National Park, man as a shaper of the alpine pastures and old breeds of farm animals. An alpine farmer tells virtually about her eventful life.

The upper floor is dedicated to the biodiversity on alpine pastures: It is about insects and spiders, typical alpine plants, animals of the night and the influence of humans on biodiversity. In addition, you will learn what the golden eagle has to do with alpine pastures and how the landscape has changed over decades.

Golden Eagle & Bearded Vulture Observatory

About 20 minutes on foot from the Klausbachhaus on easy, level hiking trails you will reach the new Golden Eagle & Bearded Vulture Observation Station. Here you will find lots of information about the fascinating "king of the skies". With a little luck, you can observe the mighty bird of prey here in the wild. Admission is free of charge.
