On 16.04.2024, the time had finally come. After the two-year pilot phase of the cooperation project between the two administrative offices of the national park and the biosphere region, all eight participating schools were officially certified as national park and biosphere schools. At the certification ceremony in the Haus der Berge, the pupils from each school presented their highlights from the pilot phase and reported on how they are committed to nature, wilderness and the sustainable development of the region. Following the award ceremony, guests were given exclusive insights into the eight schools' various projects at a market of opportunities in the Haus der Berge education center. For example, the beehive of the Saaldorf-Surheim elementary school could be admired and the school's own honey could be tasted.

The guests received good news via a video message from Thorsten Glauber: the project will be continued until 2027, meaning that more schools will soon be able to join the group of national park and biosphere schools.

Review:

  • November 2024: This year's teacher training course entitled “Argumentation training against right-wing extremism” took place at the Haus der Berge for the 15 national park and biosphere schools. Environmental historian Dr. Nils Franke from Leipzig clarified the contexts, backgrounds and thought patterns of “right-wing ecology” and showed how democratic actors can argue against it.
  • July 2024: Third network meeting on waste disposal and avoidance at schools with expert input from Mr. Wurm from the waste advisory service of the BGL district office
  • October 2023: Action days on the topic of waste with many activities in the areas of consumption, waste prevention and environmental protection
  • April 2023: Second network meeting under the motto of the current UN Decade from 2021-2023 “Restoring ecosystems”
  • November 30, 2022: The last of eight cooperation agreements has been signed with the Berchtesgaden grammar school
  • November 9, 2022: Teacher training on 'Sustainable learning - impulses from the biosphere region and national park' (also for interested teachers from schools not involved in the project)
  • 2021_22: Numerous events with the eight pilot schools led by the education teams of the Berchtesgadener Land biosphere region (e.g. on the topic of 'Water as a habitat' or 'Digitalization and resource consumption') and the Berchtesgaden National Park (e.g. the interactive simulation game 'Together for the vertical wilderness' on the topic of conflicts of use or an overnight tour to the Gotzenalm on the topic of 'Water in all its forms')
  • June/July 2022:All eight pilot schools in the cooperation project have submitted their official application!
