Berchtesgaden National Park is an IUCN Category II protected area. The only national park in the German Alps also forms the core and development zone of the Berchtesgadener Land biosphere region. Recently, the Berchtesgaden National Park was awarded the European Diploma until the year 2030 after intensive examination.
